Books for the Whole Family Gift Guide - Let Me Give You Some AdviceBooks make the perfect gift, especially if you match the right book with the right person. Picking books for others can be a little daunting but all of these have well received. If you’re still finishing up your shopping, here’s a few ideas for gift giving perfection.

This post contains Amazon affiliate links which allow a small portion of your purchase (at no cost to you) to go towards keeping the blog running. Thank you so much for your support!

For your preschool nephew

The Book with No Pictures – It’s not a new release but if the kids in your life haven’t heard it yet, they’ll love the over the top silliness from BJ Novak (yup, from the Office). It’s clever and funny and forces grownups to read crazy things aloud. My kids love this book and it’s been a hit gift with friends too.

For your mystery-loving grandma

Louise Penny’s Inspector Gamache series is delightful for both its mysteries and characters. Set in French-Canadian Quebec, the series starts a little slow but some exciting arcs are introduced that later develop into page-turning material. I’ve learned so much about an area of the world I didn’t know existed and raced through all 12 books in the series. Start with the first book, Still Life

For your brooding teenage daughter

The Serpent King by Jeff Zenter was one of my favorite YA reads this year. Set in rural Tennessee, three friends band together as the social outcasts of their small town and plot ways to escape from a world that doesn’t recognize their gifts. Beautiful and heartbreaking, teens will enjoy it’s realistic characters and appreciate their struggles.

For your rom-com obsessed BFF

The Royal We by Heather Cocks is 110% Kate Middleton fan fiction but I still found myself rooting for the characters.  It’s total lighthearted fun and a silly story but sometimes reading is an escape and what better gift can you offer than a chance to imagine you’re the princess.

For your Jason Bourne-fan dad

If you’ve got a suspense thriller junkie on your hands, you can’t go wrong with I Am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes. It’s a beast of a book but I couldn’t put it down.  Secret CIA division plus bio-terror threat set in the geopolitical landscape of the Middle East. The author is a former screenplay writer so it feels like you’re watching a movie as you read.

Your type-A sister

Another fascinating and well researched read by The Happiness Project’s Gretchen Rubin. Better Than Before: What I Learned About Making and Breaking Habits–to Sleep More, Quit Sugar, Procrastinate Less, and Generally Build a Happier Life is all about how we form habits and why sometimes they don’t stick (you might just be motivating yourself in the wrong way). Rubin’s books are always approachable and thought-provoking so if you’ve got someone who’s always looking to improve, this book will be a hit.

My best friend, Amazon, has most of these available in time for Christmas delivery and if you’ve got Amazon Prime, you can procrastinate even longer. Bonus for not having to put on any pants while you shop. Hopefully, this list helps you finish up your last minute gifts and gives you a bit of peace this season.

Got any shopping left to do?  Who’s the hardest person to buy for on your list?  Leave me a comment and I’ll help you find a perfect book.

The Book With No Pictures is an absolute must-have in any kid’s library. It was a huge hit in my class this year and a gift to all kids I know.

I just heard that there’s another Book with No Pictures coming out next fall. Such a creative concept for a book!
